Kohlberg's Theory of Moral Development.
Level 1 = Pre conventional = Ego centrism
There are 2 stages in Level 1
S1 = Avoid punishment
S2 = Reward seeking
S6 = Self principles (the ultimate moral development)
S2 = Reward seeking
S6 = Self principles (the ultimate moral development)
Stage 1 & 2 supposed to be in a childhood level, but, there are still lots of ppl who are still in this level.
How many of us, do something just to avoid punishments??
How many of us, do something just to seek others approval??
Example for Stage 1 :
Example Stage 2 :
Kite xsuka apa yang kite buat. TAPI, kita buat jugak benda tu. Walaupun, sebenarnya kita xlayak mendapat semua tu. Everyday life punya example is blogging. We notice that some ppl use their blog to tell everyone apa menda baik yg derang dah buat. Those ppl actually hoping that others will comment and say something good about it. That is REWARD/APPROVAL seeking.
Kohlbergs theory is indeed true.. We do this all the time, especially the "Ego Centrism" part. BUT, there are some behaviour that we cant control. It all depends on situations. We cannot reverse time, and we have to live with the consequences of our past behaviour. This is where Kohlbergs theory do not cover.
Everything happens for a reason. LIVE WITH IT and be thankful for it. For sometimes, what and who we really needs are actually right in front of us and you may not notice it until its gone. Think critically and dont be bias. Be good and never be selfish. Life isnt just about YOU and YOU. Life is about others too.
Be ethical..
